Celebrating Diversity: Centrals Trinity Beach Women’s 2024 Pride Round
For the 2024 Pride Round, the Centrals Trinity Beach Women’s teams, including the U17 Girls and U15 Girls, proudly wore unique pride round designs. This year’s design focused on two central themes: the sea and the rainbow.
The Sea: With its boundless depths and ever-changing currents, the sea symbolizes the fluidity and diversity of human identity.
The Rainbow: Universally recognized as a symbol of LGBTQ+ pride, the rainbow represents the spectrum of identities within our community.
By merging these two elements, the design embodies the club’s commitment to embracing and supporting every individual, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or background.
Design Elements Breakdown:
Northern Beaches Motif: The coastal design pays homage to our club’s geographical roots, fostering a sense of local pride and belonging among players and supporters.
Droplet Pattern: Represents the interconnectedness of individuals within our community, each unique yet intrinsically linked by our club.
Rainbow Colors: Signify inclusivity, acceptance, and pride, serving as a beacon of hope and solidarity for LGBTQ+ members and allies alike.
I’ve had a lot of fun over the last few years creating different jersey designs for Pride Round, from rainbow lorikeets to colorful bulldogs. I believe having a unique artistic interpretation to self-expression, to demonstrate love and the importance of inclusivity within sport not only results in something visually engaging but sparks conversations within the community. It’s the ultimate opportunity for everyone both in and outside the community to stand up and pay attention. And creating something that my teammates feel proud to take the field in is the icing on top.

We asked some of our players their thoughts on Pride Round and the importance of inclusivity at Centrals club.
What does Pride Round mean to you?
“Pride Round to me means supporting all people no matter their sexuality.”
“Being able to be me without judgement.”
“A chance to celebrate how far we have come as a nation.”
Why is Pride Round important?
“Pride Round is important because it shows that we as a football community love and support the pride community.”
“Everyone has the right to be who they are and be confident in their own skin without judgement.”
“It’s important to acknowledge the wrongdoings in the past and move forward in a celebratory way.”
What does it mean to embrace inclusivity at the club/in sport?
“It means that everyone is at footy to have fun and it doesn’t matter what your sexuality is, because footy is all-inclusive.”
“Knowing a club is inclusive provides a safe space to do what you love. Playing sport with your mates.”
“Inclusivity is what makes it fun and interesting.”
How did you feel taking the field in your Pride jersey?
“It felt so special to be able to wear our pride jerseys and support the gay community while having fun with my teammates.”
“The word says it all. PRIDE.”
“I felt proud to celebrate love, to celebrate my friends, to celebrate the sport, to celebrate a win 😉.”
What do you love most about the Centrals community?
“I love that everyone is supportive of everyone and that it forms strong and beautiful friendships that will last a lifetime.”
“I feel everyone is different from race to age to sexuality and Centrals embraces the individual 🌈.”
“I love how the girls get around me and have accepted me into the club so quickly. Thanks, ladies 🫶.”
