CENTRALS TRINITY BEACH SENIORS

Why Join?

Established in 1958 as a foundation club of the Cairns Australian Football League, Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs boasts a proud history spanning more than six decades, with 12 senior premierships to our name. Today, the club is entering an exciting new era. With the appointment of Football Operations Manager Mark Perkins, the football department is rapidly evolving into a strong and sustainable business entity. Mark’s skills, experience and connections have enabled us to attract high-quality players to both Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs and AFL Cairns, lifting competition standards to levels not seen before.

The 2025 season has now come to a close, and from a senior football perspective, we more than met our expectations. Having all four senior teams play finals – with the Senior Men, Development and Women’s teams all reaching the Grand Final – was something few could have predicted at the start of the year.

Off the field, 2025 delivered significant progress. Key improvements included the introduction of FullLife Physio, consolidation of our apparel supplier with ISC, upgrades to the Kennel with new benches, hooks and sponsor branding, and modernised Honour Boards that celebrate our rich history in a contemporary way. We also welcomed Caitlin Byron as our club dietitian, ensuring all players have access to the very best in welfare and performance support.

Looking ahead, we are currently obtaining quotes to upgrade our field lighting, which will allow us to host night games in 2026 – another major step forward for the club.

One of the most important improvements, however, has come from our players. Across both the men’s and women’s programs, increased dedication and commitment to training was the catalyst for our Grand Final appearances. But we are not resting on our 2025 performances. Our clear focus is to bring the silverware back to Crathern Park.

Our chances in 2026 have been further strengthened by strong recruiting across both programs. There will be many new faces next season, and we are committed to delivering a positive and exciting experience for our supporters – with plenty of wins as we chase those elusive premierships.

Along with being part of a great social club with its own clubhouse, players also enjoy access to:

  • Established talent pathways
  • A fully equipped gym
  • Professional Physios & Trainers during training sessions and game days
  • Member discount at Trinity Beach Sports Club, with club dinners on Thursday nights.
  • Premium fields and facilities
  • Accredited coaches and support staff
  • Assistance with employment and accomodation if relocating
  • A complete family environment
  • Ability to play footy with your mates and make new friends

Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs is more than a football club – it’s a community, and the future has never looked brighter.

MEET THE COACH

DAVID STRETTON

David is 39 and lives in Cairns with his wife Rhiannon and their two children, Mason (10) and Eadie. The family relocated from Victoria in January last year in search of a new challenge and a warmer lifestyle. After a year in Cairns, they’ve fallen in love with the region — particularly the Northern Beaches — and are proud to now call it home.

Football has been a constant in David’s life since the age of seven. Following 21 years of senior football, he is now transitioning fully into coaching and is excited to lead the club as Senior Coach in 2026.

“I take this role seriously. I know how hungry everyone connected to this club is for success, and I feel incredibly privileged to lead a genuinely driven, coachable and committed playing group that wants to improve every time they step on the track.”

David’s coaching focus is threefold:

1.Helping players get better through strong habits, confidence and development.

2. Strengthening the connection between junior and senior programs, with clear pathways for emerging talent, particularly Under 17s.

3. Building sustained success — not just chasing premierships, but creating a winning culture that lasts.

Supporters can expect a senior group that plays with intent: fast ball movement, fearless attack, explosive transition from the back half, and strong defensive pressure. This is a hungry group that will play every week with something to prove.

“Last season showed what this club is capable of. We made a Grand Final, but we weren’t good enough on the day — and we’re honest about that. The coaching staff and committee are aligned in ensuring we take the next step in 2026.”

“This is a great football club. As a coach, I need no greater motivation than helping this group and the club as a whole achieve the success it deserves.”
